Tier Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 19, 2026

Tier (“Tier”, “we”, “us”) is a workout tracker for iPhone made by Arsen Palamarchuk. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Tier. Questions: support@curiositydrivenapps.com.

The short version

1. Information stored on your iPhone

Tier keeps everything you enter in a database on your iPhone. This includes your profile (goal, sex, body weight, age, training days and equipment), your workouts, sets, notes, routines, programs, body weight log, ranks and settings. This information is not sent to us. Deleting the app, or Settings → Delete all data, removes it from your iPhone.

2. iCloud Drive backups

Tier writes backup files to your own iCloud Drive (Files → iCloud Drive → Tier → Backups). They contain your Tier data and the random ID described in section 4, so a restore on a new iPhone keeps your history and subscription together. The backups are stored by Apple under your Apple Account and governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We have no access to them. You can delete them in the Files app. “Delete all data” in Tier does not delete them.

3. Apple Health

If you allow it, Tier saves your workouts and body weight to Apple Health and reads your latest body weight so your ranks stay accurate. You choose what to allow, and you can change it anytime in the Health app (Sharing → Apps → Tier).

Data read from Apple Health is used only on your iPhone, to provide Tier’s features to you. It is never sent to us or to any third party, and never used for advertising or marketing. One thing to know: your ranks are computed from your current body weight, which can be a reading from Apple Health. Your rank, and a strength-to-body-weight range such as “1–1.25×”, can be part of the usage analytics described below. The body weight itself is never sent.

4. Usage analytics

To learn which parts of Tier work and which don’t, Tier sends usage events to PostHog, an analytics service that processes them for us on servers in the United States. Each event is tied to a random ID that Tier creates on your iPhone. The ID is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account, and it is stored in your iPhone’s Keychain, so it can remain after you delete the app.

What the events include: app opens, which screens you view, key actions (such as finishing a workout or opening the paywall), counts and durations (sets, exercises, minutes), exercise IDs, rank tiers, and ranges instead of exact numbers: body weight range (for example 150–179 lb), age range, and strength or rep ranges. They also include the answers you give in onboarding and settings (goal, sex, lifting experience, where you train, training days, focus muscles and units), whether you have Tier Pro, and basic technical details: app version, iOS version, device model, language and time zone.

What they never include: your name, email, notes, routine names, custom exercise names, search text, exact body weight or lift numbers, location, contacts, photos, values read from Apple Health, or the advertising identifier (IDFA). Tier does not use App Tracking Transparency because it does not track you.

We ask PostHog not to derive location from your IP address and not to store it. Analytics events are kept for up to 12 months.

5. Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details, name or email from Apple.

We use RevenueCat to confirm your subscription and to restore it. RevenueCat receives the random ID from section 4, your App Store purchase records (product, dates, trial, renewal and cancellation status) and technical details such as app version, device model, country and IP address. RevenueCat can also send subscription events (for example “trial started” or “renewed”) to our analytics under the same random ID. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

6. Notifications

Training reminders, the rest timer alert and the trial reminder are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. No notification content or device token is sent to us. You can turn them off in iOS Settings → Notifications → Tier.

7. Sharing

We do not sell your information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with the service providers named above (PostHog, RevenueCat, and Apple for iCloud, Health and the App Store), who process it for us under their terms, or when the law requires it.

When you share a workout or rank card, iOS shows its share sheet and you choose where it goes; that app’s own policy then applies.

8. Children

Tier is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used Tier, contact us and we will delete any analytics we can identify.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example California or another US state with a privacy law), you may have rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights. To use them, email support@curiositydrivenapps.com.

10. Security

Your data is protected by your iPhone’s security and by Apple’s iCloud. Data sent to PostHog and RevenueCat travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or in the App Store release notes.
